Los Angeles councilmember Nithya Raman defeats incumbent mayor Karen Bass
Raman overturned an early Bass lead as mail ballots were counted, winning 52.1% to 47.9%. She has pledged to cut the number of people sleeping on the streets by at least 50% before the 2028 Olympics.
