Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft shared £83,000 for the Refugee Council and Choose Love after becoming Celebrity Traitors’ joint winners.

The result followed a final round table, where the remaining players had to decide whom to banish before their fates were revealed.

The BBC One finale aired on Friday 30 October at 8pm. It ran for 80 minutes and concluded at 9:20pm, with Claudia Winkleman hosting.

Seven players were still in the castle at the start: James Blunt, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Michael Sheen, Ranganathan, Croft, Maya Jama and King Kenny.

Michael Sheen, the actor and a faithful, was murdered by the traitors in the episode’s first action. He had worked out that Jama was a traitor.

Jama, a traitor, was banished after Kenny turned against her.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock, also a faithful, was banished after Kenny voted to remove her.

The final round table involved Kenny, Ranganathan, Croft, known as Bash, and Blunt. Kenny and Blunt were tied in a vote for who was a traitor, before Bash persuaded Romesh to banish Kenny rather than James.

Kenny, a YouTuber and traitor, said after his elimination: 'Absolutely devastated. Almost scraped it. I was so close, I smelled the victory.'

Blunt, a singer and faithful, chose another round of voting and was then evicted himself. He said: 'I've loved trying to work it out, I've loved getting it wrong so often, I've loved the tiny moments when I've got it right, I've loved the game.'

Ranganathan and Croft were then confirmed as the final two players and crowned joint winners. Ranganathan called himself the worst winner in the history of the game after discovering that Kenny and Jama had been traitors.

Croft, 24, said: 'This might actually be the best day of my life.' He later said: 'I think until about an hour and a half before I was so split between whether I was going to go with James until the end or with Romesh and Kenny.'

Ranganathan said: 'I just really hope my mum's proud. And also my youngest son Charlie, who wanted me to come on the show - dad won. Please show me some respect.'

The pair gave their prize to the Refugee Council and Choose Love.

James Acaster had earlier admitted at the roundtable that he had been a secretly recruited traitor.

Fireworks marked the end of the finale.

The episode averaged 11.23 million overnight viewers and peaked at 11.6 million when the winners were crowned. That surpassed last year’s finale high of 11 million.

Headrow House in Leeds held a screening from 18:00, including a repeat of the semi-final.
