The exchange has replenished about 95% of the stolen amount using company funds and will absorb the rest. The FBI tied the attack to a North Korean state-sponsored unit, though Donald Trump said the US was still not certain of North Korea's involvement.
Most of the money was taken in around 20 minutes on 29 October. Three tracing firms have linked the attack to North Korean hackers, and Binance says its reserve fund will cover losses.
Blockchain intelligence firms say TraderTraitor, the group behind a $1.5 billion Bybit theft earlier this year, carried out the theft. Binance says about $3 billion has been frozen, while analysts say attackers are converting a further $3.3 billion into traditional currency.
