Russia and China block US push to expand Sudan's arms embargo beyond Darfur
The UN Security Council unanimously renewed its Darfur embargo until 11 December, but a US proposal to extend restrictions across Sudan failed. Russia, which backs the Sudanese government, flatly refused to let the council even hint at widening the measures.
