US drops Eritrea sanctions as Ethiopia war emergency authority expires
The Treasury Department removed six designations on 18 September 2026, including Eritrea's Defence Forces and ruling party. The move followed the automatic lapse of an emergency order Biden signed in 2021 over the conflict in northern Ethiopia.
