The United States women’s basketball team won its fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s World Cup title after beating France 97–79 in Berlin, extending a run of success that has defined its place in the tournament.

The victory gave Team USA its 12th overall World Cup title. It came after a difficult opening in which France built an early 14-point advantage and led 31–17 early in the second quarter.

France carried a 45–43 lead into halftime, leaving the Americans with a close contest to turn after the break. The decisive change came in the third quarter, when the United States outscored France 30–12.

That quarter shifted the game firmly towards Team USA. The Americans went on to complete the 97–79 victory and add another title to their sequence of five consecutive World Cup wins.

France had previously come close against the United States on the Olympic stage, losing the 2024 Olympic final by one point. In Berlin, France again began strongly, but could not match the American response after halftime.

The result underlined the United States’ sustained dominance in international women’s basketball. Its fifth straight World Cup title and 12th championship overall place the Berlin win among the team’s most significant tournament results.
