Germany has pulled out of the joint future combat tank programme, France says
France's top general confirmed Germany's departure from the Main Ground Combat System, a project launched in 2017 to replace both countries' ageing tanks by 2040–2045. It is the second Franco-German defence programme to collapse this year, following the failure of the SCAF aircraft project in June.
