Burnham to scrap pension triple lock in 2030 to fund free care for older people
The existing guarantee will stay in place until April 2030, in line with Labour's last manifesto pledge. After that, the annual earnings link will go, saving an estimated £15 billion a year by the end of the 2030s — money Burnham says will pay for a new National Care Service.
