Russian gold flows to Hong Kong at almost three times last year's rate
Hong Kong received almost 100 tonnes of Russian gold in the first seven months of 2026, as Western sanctions keep London and New York closed to Russian bullion. Most of it moves on to mainland China, whose imports of Russian gold rose about 15-fold to $3.3 billion in 2025.
