Family caregivers now spend an average of $11,508 a year out of pocket
An AARP survey of 2,538 caregivers found costs have risen roughly 60% in five years — more than twice the overall inflation rate. About half said they had made major financial sacrifices, including cutting savings or drawing down retirement funds.
