US sanctions Rwanda's defence ministry over M23 support in eastern Congo
The Treasury Department says Rwanda deployed thousands of troops in eastern Congo and supplied M23 rebels with weapons and training. The measures come after Trump brokered a peace deal between Rwanda and Congo late last year — fighting has continued regardless.
