Google Messages will use cloud AI to catch scams that build slowly over several texts
The new Enhanced protection mode sends conversations with unknown senders to Gemini models in the cloud, which Google says are better at spotting fraud that starts innocuously and turns dangerous across multiple exchanges. The setting is opt-in, and Google has not published an accuracy rate for the feature.
