At The Regent's Park, Eilen Itzel do Espírito Santo is presenting abstract paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures with Bolanle Contemporary at Frieze London. The Dominican American artist graduated with an MFA in painting from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2024.
The presentation gives a prominent platform to a gallery that has no permanent premises. Bolanle Contemporary, founded by the curator and arts educator Bolanle Tajudeen, is the only nomadic gallery showing at Frieze London in 2026. Tajudeen is also known for Black Blossoms, her online art school.
Tajudeen announced the gallery in 2023 as an operation without a fixed space. It has since mounted exhibitions at No.9 Cork Street and Sadie Coles HQ, and appeared at fairs in London and Miami Beach.
For Tajudeen, the absence of a permanent gallery is a practical answer to the economics of the business. She said that not having a physical space was 'the biggest overheads [for a gallery] alongside participating in all of the international fairs'.
Frieze changed its rules earlier in 2026, formally removing the requirement that galleries have a physical space for its contemporary art fairs, beginning with Frieze Seoul.
That decision has allowed Bolanle Contemporary to enter Frieze London, which brings together 171 galleries from 42 countries and regions. The 24th edition of Frieze London and the 14th edition of Frieze Masters return to The Regent's Park from 14–18 October 2026, with Frieze London running through October 18.
Frieze's executive director of fairs is Kristell Chadé. Eva Langret is the fair's director of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Bolanle Contemporary is taking part in Artist-to-Artist, a curated programme in which established international artists choose emerging artists for solo presentations. Firelei Báez, a New York-based Dominican artist, selected do Espírito Santo for the section.
The model arrives after closures among galleries with established premises. Stephen Friedman Gallery shut its Tribeca space late last year, then entered administration and closed its Cork Street flagship in February.
For Bolanle Contemporary, Frieze London offers a test of whether a gallery can reach a major fair and present an emerging artist's work without maintaining a permanent address.
