Wandering black hole tears apart a star more than 1,000 parsecs from its galaxy's centre
The flare, known as TDE 2023mfm, gave away a massive black hole drifting far outside where such objects are normally found. Astronomers think a collision with a smaller galaxy is the most likely reason it ended up there.
